Faith and Life do they mix?

 First Post

This is my first new blog post that will be totally different from my loopy perspective on my other blog. I have let folks here on the stream know that life is well weird for me, as I can’t seem to get my act together. The good part of all this is I have an amazing support system, even if I forget sometimes. Thank you Zakk.

After much therapy and pills without complete success I turned to some of my on-line friends for advise. I admire their innocent and complete faith; it grants them confidence and strength. I remember a time for me when I had that faith, a time when I knew the powers that be will get me though anything.

So I started to get some churchin’ up so to speak. Now don’t get me wrong. I am not here to preach to you or, tell you to think like I do or you will go to hell. That is not my style. I do not think you will ever hear me say, “God has a plan”. To me, it’s the biggest cop-out ever and a way to say, I do not know why this crap happens and I don’t want to talk about it any more.

I do not care who you are; I think it’s possible to find wisdom in the teachings of various faiths, Jesus, Muhammad, Moses, Buddha, Hindu, and so on had something of value to say. I have read a lot of these books and there is a very similar message. If I were to sum it up cruelly, they are all basically saying, “DON”T BE AN ASSH*LE!”
Getting to the point. As anyone who has read my attempts at satire knows I pay attention to the news. So I would like to mix the real world with my new learning and get opinions on it. I would like people opinions and ideas on the topics put forth. Hopefully, it will lead to personal wisdom and growth. That being said, here is the chapter that started me on this train of thought;

LUKE 16:19-31
19"There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day. 20At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores 21and longing to eat what fell from the rich man's table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores.

22"The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham's side. The rich man also died and was buried. 23In hell,[a] where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. 24So he called to him, 'Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.'

25"But Abraham replied, 'Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. 26And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.'

27"He answered, 'Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my father's house, 28for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.'

29"Abraham replied, 'They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.'

30" 'No, father Abraham,' he said, 'but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.'

31"He said to him, 'If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.' "

Here is the question I would like to put forth; does this set a biblical president for health care for the poor? Are we by denying health care and other programs now equal with the rich man in this story?

Or maybe by saying the program is a bad idea, do we take away the freewill that God intended us to have?

It will be interesting to hear what people have to say.
